Evaluation of an Online-Based Self-Help Program for Patients With Panic Disorder: Randomized Controlled Trial

Evaluation of an Online-Based Self-Help Program for Patients With Panic Disorder: Randomized Controlled Trial

Of particular note is the benefit of internet-based CBT (i CBT) to the healthcare system, as it is a cost-effective treatment alternative with similar efficacy to face-to-face CBT [21,22]. Also, i CBT can help to bridge the waiting periods for face-to-face psychotherapy, which on average lasts several months in Germany and has further increased since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic [23,24].

Effectiveness of General Practitioner Referral Versus Self-Referral Pathways to Guided Internet-Delivered Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression, Panic Disorder, and Social Anxiety Disorder: Naturalistic Study

Effectiveness of General Practitioner Referral Versus Self-Referral Pathways to Guided Internet-Delivered Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression, Panic Disorder, and Social Anxiety Disorder: Naturalistic Study

These factors make ICBT an attractive option for expanding access to mental health treatment, particularly in areas with limited resources or where traditional face-to-face therapy is not readily available. Systematic reviews have found the effect of guided ICBT for depression and anxiety disorders to be no different from that of face-to-face CBT [17-19].

Cost Utility Analysis of Internet-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Major Depressive Disorder: Randomized Controlled Trial

Cost Utility Analysis of Internet-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Major Depressive Disorder: Randomized Controlled Trial

Participants in the ICBT group were provided with an ICBT course for 8 weeks in addition to usual care. Each participant was assigned an account number and corresponding password after the pretreatment instruction and training for use. The ICBT course is called Morning Mood; is embedded in the We Chat mini program; and can be accessed via smartphones, tablets, and computers.

Integrating Videoconferencing Therapist Guidance Into Stepped Care Internet-Delivered Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Child and Adolescent Anxiety: Noninferiority Randomized Controlled Trial

Integrating Videoconferencing Therapist Guidance Into Stepped Care Internet-Delivered Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Child and Adolescent Anxiety: Noninferiority Randomized Controlled Trial

Therapist-guided ICBT (ICBT-TG), where regular but minimal therapist guidance is provided in addition to an ICBT program, has demonstrated similar effects to F2 F CBT and seems to promote greater treatment engagement and response than self-directed ICBT interventions [2,8,9]. While ICBT-TG may enhance engagement and produces good therapeutic outcomes, its widespread delivery requires the funding of therapist time and is constrained by issues of workforce shortages.

Long-Term Effects of Internet-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Depression Prevention Among University Students: Randomized Controlled Factorial Trial

Long-Term Effects of Internet-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Depression Prevention Among University Students: Randomized Controlled Factorial Trial

Additionally, internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (i CBT) has demonstrated consistent efficaciousness in treating depression [9,10]. i CBT is highly desirable because of its ease of accessibility and lower costs than face-to-face interventions [11]. However, the efficaciousness of i CBT has been examined as a package of several components [9].

Introducing and Evaluating the Effectiveness of Online Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Gambling Disorder in Routine Addiction Care: Comparative Cohort Study

Introducing and Evaluating the Effectiveness of Online Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Gambling Disorder in Routine Addiction Care: Comparative Cohort Study

In these continuous messages, the i CBT therapists monitored treatment engagement and progress, provided personalized feedback on tasks, and were available to answer questions. If need be, the i CBT therapists contacted the patients, who in turn could also contact their i CBT therapist by telephone.

Web-Based, Human-Guided, or Computer-Guided Transdiagnostic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in University Students With Anxiety and Depression: Randomized Controlled Trial

Web-Based, Human-Guided, or Computer-Guided Transdiagnostic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in University Students With Anxiety and Depression: Randomized Controlled Trial

In this study, we use a slightly different terminology for the guided and unguided i CBT conditions, as we think these terms are unfortunate for several reasons (for a discussion, see the study by Koelen et al [28]). In this study, we compared 3 conditions simultaneously in a large sample of both undergraduate and graduate (including doctoral) university students (henceforth, students): a human-guided i CBT transdiagnostic program, a computer-guided i CBT transdiagnostic program, and care as usual (CAU).

Web-Based Therapist-Guided Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Body Dysmorphic Disorder: Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

Web-Based Therapist-Guided Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Body Dysmorphic Disorder: Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

Internet-based CBT for BDD may increase treatment access, with research investigating the efficacy of internet-based CBT (i CBT) for BDD identified as encouraging. In Sweden, Enander et al [19] conducted a 12-week randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing i CBT for BDD with web-based supportive therapy. Results revealed a between-group effect size of d=0.95 (95% CI 0.52 to 1.38) after treatment, indicating substantially reduced BDD outcomes for the intervention group when compared to supportive therapy.
