News Media Framing of Suicide Circumstances and Gender: Mixed Methods Analysis

We reported mutual information (MI) scores, which are widely used in the information theory literature, to determine differences by gender in stigmatizing or glorifying language as used under a particular circumstance of death. MI is an indicator of similarity (score farther from 0) or dissimilarity (score closer to 0) between two distributions [35].
