Identification of Predictors of Mood Disorder Misdiagnosis and Subsequent Help-Seeking Behavior in Individuals With Depressive Symptoms: Gradient-Boosted Tree Machine Learning Approach

The strongest predictor of misdiagnosis was the severity of depressed mood, with more severe depressive symptoms being associated with a greater risk of being misdiagnosed. This directionality was consistent with other top predictors of misdiagnosis, including unstable self-image, reckless spending, frequent intense mood swings, mania, weight gain during low mood, and being more sexually active than usual.

Mindfulness Training for Depressed Older Adults Using Smartphone Technology: Protocol for a Fully Remote Precision Clinical Trial

This assessment was added at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to collect data on the impact of isolation and loneliness on this older depressed population. We will analyze feasibility with respect to retention and completion rates, successful and unsuccessful recruitment methods, and successful and unsuccessful methods to prompt adherence to the intervention, including home practice of mindfulness.
