Our study underscored the critical role of clinician endorsements as external motivators that significantly influence both the intention to use and the actual usage of health care apps. However, the real-world application of digital tools in clinical settings often reveals a gap between controlled study environments and everyday clinical practice. In addressing this, we aimed to minimize such discrepancies by using commercial apps without structured reminders, thus fostering more natural user engagement.

Advancing Digital Health Integration in Oncology

To conclude, Park et al [1] have laid a solid foundation for understanding how patients with cancer adopt health care apps, emphasizing the centrality of user experience and clinician endorsement. However, broader integration of telemedicine advances, joint patient-provider acceptance, and interactive patient portal functionalities could drive higher engagement rates and better patient outcomes across diverse populations.

Creation of Text Vignettes Based on Patient-Reported Data to Facilitate a Better Understanding of the Patient Perspective: Design Study

Creation of Text Vignettes Based on Patient-Reported Data to Facilitate a Better Understanding of the Patient Perspective: Design Study

A study found that only 11% of 59 PRO questionnaires are readable by the average UK adult [15], emphasizing the need for a patient-clinician dialogue to enhance understanding and decision-making [5]. Numerical scores derived from PROs can represent a person’s health status or health-related quality of life to a limited extent because some of the narrative is lost along the way. In the representation of PRO data, there is a need to be able to give meaning to individual experiences [4].

User Experience and Extended Technology Acceptance Model in Commercial Health Care App Usage Among Patients With Cancer: Mixed Methods Study

User Experience and Extended Technology Acceptance Model in Commercial Health Care App Usage Among Patients With Cancer: Mixed Methods Study

Recognizing patients more as consumers, clinician recommendations play a crucial role in app retention, boosting confidence and adherence [60]. This underscores the potential of clinician recommendations to enhance adherence to digital health solutions. Compared to other chronic diseases, the relationship between the patient with cancer and oncologist (surgical oncologist) is especially important in the dynamic treatment process and decision-making [61,62].

Factors Affecting Clinician Readiness to Adopt Smart Home Technology for Remote Health Monitoring: Systematic Review

Factors Affecting Clinician Readiness to Adopt Smart Home Technology for Remote Health Monitoring: Systematic Review

Clinician adoption of smart home technology requires clinicians to use and understand a new form of evidence. Accordingly, using the findings of this systematic review, we developed a theoretical model to support clinician readiness for and adoption of HAS technology, which will be discussed at the end of the Results section.

Fifth, the clinician can incorporate these tools as part of a synchronous classroom activity and model critical inquiry skills when using Gen AI. By analyzing the accuracy of outputs, clinicians can model iterative prompting to refine Gen AI outputs, refine learning, and expose the gaps in outputs.
