The world population is moving toward an aging society. As health care technology improves, people are expected to live longer and healthier [1]. According to the World Health Organization, the population aged ≥60 years will increase from 1 billion in 2020 to 2.1 billion in 2050 and the number of people aged ≥80 years will reach 426 million in 2050 [2].

Interestingly, collectivism and not ethnicity has been identified as a predictor of both forms of filial piety and positive attitudes toward caring for aging parents [7]. Hence, filial piety may be more cross-cultural than previously believed, albeit with regional nuances [7,8]. Indeed, 74% of older adults in the United States National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS 2011-2017) reported receiving support from one child caregiver, and 41% of children provided care to aging parents [10].

Effectiveness of the Safe Step Digital Exercise Program to Prevent Falls in Older Community-Dwelling Adults: Randomized Controlled Trial

Therefore, there is a pressing need to develop scalable and effective interventions for fall prevention that promote autonomy and independence and support self-management of exercise in the aging population. Digital technology has increasingly been used to enhance the reach of health-promoting interventions and strengthen the individual’s control over the intervention by being able to take their own initiatives and self-monitor health outcomes.

Barriers and Determinants of Referral Adherence in AI-Enabled Diabetic Retinopathy Screening for Older Adults in Northern India During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Mixed Methods Pilot Study

The National Programme for Health Care of the Elderly in India advocates for accessible, affordable, high-quality, long-term, comprehensive care services tailored to the needs of an aging population [10]. Significant scientific evidence shows that early screening and timely treatment referral can prevent most visual loss caused by DR [11].

Digital Health Intervention Effect on Older Adults With Chronic Diseases Living Alone: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Digital Health Intervention Effect on Older Adults With Chronic Diseases Living Alone: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

According to the United Nations, older adults aged 65 years and older are expected to account for 16% of the world’s population in 2050, when the risk of interpersonal, cognitive, and physical decline caused by aging will gradually become more prominent [1,2]. Owing to aging, the number of older adults living alone is continuously increasing, and various social problems require satisfying basic human needs, such as health care and others [3,4].
