The baseline characteristics of the AT+EX and AT-only groups were examined using independent 2-tailed t tests for continuous variables and chi-square tests for categorical variables. Outcome data, including all available data, were analyzed using the intention-to-treat approach. When data were missing due to dropouts of participants, we used the last observation carried forward method to impute missing values.

Results of t tests (2-tailed) and χ2 tests showed no significant differences in the demographics and outcomes between the chatbot and control groups and between those who received and did not receive notifications. Table 1 summarizes the demographic characteristics of the participants.

Raw scores will be converted to t scores. The PROMIS anger, anxiety, and depression scales displayed sufficient psychometric properties within the Dutch population [51,52].
The EQ-5 D-Y-3 L [53] assesses the perceived quality of life in children aged 8-15 years. This questionnaire maps the quality of life based on 5 dimensions: mobility, self-care, usual activities, pain, and anxiety or depression. Both self-report and caregiver proxy versions will be used.
