Results of t tests (2-tailed) and χ2 tests showed no significant differences in the demographics and outcomes between the chatbot and control groups and between those who received and did not receive notifications. Table 1 summarizes the demographic characteristics of the participants.

The reminder icon was redesigned to align with users’ expectations, and the notification icon was changed from a bell to an envelope to prevent confusion. Similarly, the dial’s sensitivity was adjusted to allow for more precise Peak Flow input, reducing the risk of inaccurate data entries. To address visibility concerns, new messages on the notification screen were color-coded (blue for unread messages, gray for read ones), and a dividing line was added to separate them.

Before the main analyses, independent samples t tests (2-tailed, paired) will be conducted on the baseline demographic variables to identify any significant differences between the 2 groups. Any variables that show statistically significant differences will be included as covariates in the subsequent main analyses. It is expected that the treatment group will demonstrate improved emotion regulation and reduced mood symptoms and loneliness following the music intervention, compared with the control group.
