Clinical Efficacy and Psychological Mechanisms of an App-Based Digital Therapeutic for Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Randomized Controlled Trial

Clinical Efficacy and Psychological Mechanisms of an App-Based Digital Therapeutic for Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Randomized Controlled Trial

Assuming a 10% reduction in the TAU group, a 1-tailed t test determined that a sample size of 52 would have 80% power with 1-sided 5% type I error to detect a statistically significant between-group difference in GAD-7 scores (Cohen d=0.7). We recruited 65 individuals to account for 25% attrition. Analyses were conducted using R (version 3.4.1), and a modified intent-to-treat approach was employed.

Physician Anxiety and Burnout: Symptom Correlates and a Prospective Pilot Study of App-Delivered Mindfulness Training

Necessary components for this type of learning include a trigger, behavior, and reward [11,12]. Positive reinforcement learning might happen when a medical student is asked a question during hospital rounds (historically referred to as a pimping – trigger); if she provides the correct response (behavior), she may be rewarded with praise (reward). If she replies incorrectly, she may learn through negative reinforcement by being encouraged to look up the answer, or castigated in front of the team.
